There is no way to have "death with dignity" when we aren't treating people who are suffering from physical or mental ailments as valuable and worthwhile lives in the first place. Our MAiD programs have fallen down the slippery slope and fallen off a cliff where euthanasia is now being offered as a matter of convenience rather than compassion.
In light of the fact that MAiD deaths are dramatically rising and it is now being offered as a way to avoid helping people, the Canadian Government needs to halt all expansions to MAiD qualifications and call an immediate review of the original legislation in order to make sure we are prioritizing the value of every human life at every step.
